Bites & Stings

North Carolina is home to two venomous spiders, and 37 known species of snakes, five of which are venomous. In the event of a critter bite or sting, NC Poison Control’s specialized staff possesses unique knowledge to provide assistance. Certain bites and stings may lead to severe complications if not treated promptly. Our specially trained nurses and pharmacists have extensive expertise in providing treatment recommendations for bites and stings. We can determine whether at-home treatment is sufficient or if hospital care is necessary. We know all about caterpillar stings, ticks, insects, and creatures that live in the ocean if you are stung there, too. You can call us at 1-800-222-1222.
